Yarn For KAL

Here is the yarn I picked out to use for the Not-A-Poncho KAL on Jane Thornley's website.

I really like the blues and greens in this assortment. I also had a set of pink themed yarns I was deciding on too. But the blues and greens won out.

What do you think?

Now I need to cast on.

It was a lot of fun to do the podcast. And there is a lot of great news and reviews in it.... If I say so myself ;)

Free Range KAL and Podcast Update

Jane has posted the start of Free Range KAL. She has the schematic and the first part of the pattern to knit including the cast on and needle selection.

I'm already behind because I still haven't gotten my stash out to pick yarns. Damn! So I'm going to do that today after I get done recording my podcast.

'Did I just read that you are recording your podcast?!?' Yes, I know it has been quite a while (August!!!) since I put out a podcast.

But now that I'm not working at an ordinary, boring, office, cube-contained computer programming job anymore (I quit last month to pursue my own stuff including the Knitting News Cast podcast and website plus contract programming) I have time and the energy to get one together.

I know, I know... I've written before that I'm putting out a podcast. But this time it is true... Just give me time to take a shower and get dressed and then off to recording.

I've got a basic outline of show notes written put together. There is plenty of great knitting material out there. So it won't be hard to put it all together.

Create Your Own Custom Wrist Warmers

I just got done creating a wrist warmers pattern generator on the Knitting News Cast website. All you have to do is knit up a gauge swatch using any yarn you like. Then enter your gauge, wrist size, and needle size. The pattern generator then creates a custom wrist warmers pattern. Too cool!

I had a lot of fun knitting up a couple pairs of wrist warmers using the simple K2P2 pattern.

Here is a picture of one of the wrist warmers I knitted using Buckwheat Bridge Angoras Yarn (50% Kid Mohair, 50% wool, Corpus Cristi)

Fun Looking Knit Along

Jane Thornley is starting a knit along next week that uses Free Range Knitting.

I just love Jane's designs. They are very organic looking. Her uses of color and texture are incredible.

I'm really looking forward to the knit along. I have a bunch of yarn that I only have one skein of. I think this will be a great way to use them up and get a great looking piece of knitted art.

Keep you posted. And if you want to join, check out the knit along announcement.
