Charm Necklace

I got some wonderful charms in the mail today from a swap I did with a group I'm in online. Every since I started knitting I haven't spent much time doing other art. This group keeps me into my stamping, paper craft art and sometimes jewelry making.

We each made 16 charms that we then sent to the hostess. She traded out all the charms and I got back 16 different ones. The idea, in theory, is to make a charm bracelet from the charms, but since they are too big to really get all on a bracelet comfortably, I'm going to do something different for each or for a set of each.

This great charm was made by Susan Tidwell who was the hostess of the swap. The other side is just as great but I had beads that went with the blue-green of the "Make Art" side. So I made a necklace.

Really, I am knitting too! In fact, I need to go turn the heel on a sock I'm knitting so that I can take it to a meeting tonight and knit the foot. That way I won't have to think too hard!

Beautiful Texas Wildflowers

Today I went walking out on our property. We are having exceptionally beautiful wildflowers this year. We had a hard freeze in February and then lots of rain in March and April. So the flowers are out in force.

The flowers on our property are growing in fields, especially the yellow ones. But there are fields on my way to and from work that are spectacular. They have brown-eyed susans, indian blanket, and texas spider wort. So it is a sea of yellow, orange, purple, and bright green. I'm hoping to get some pictures on Friday or Saturday.

The bluebonnets were good this year. They were out in force but the other wildflowers and plants grew up so fast around them this year that we didn't seem to get to enjoy them as long.

You can see more wildflower pictures in my web album.

And here are some bluebonnet pictures I took a few weeks ago.

In knitting news, I'm working on a sock using Knit Picks sock yarn. I'll get a picture posted of my progress soon! Oh and I'm knitting pink boa type scarves to raise money for Amy's 3 Day Breast Cancer walk in Seattle in September. I have 20 to knit. So if you'd like to help me out with knitting these or if you'd like to purchase one for a good cause, leave me a comment.

Knitty Meet Up

Amy Singer and Rhonda BellWent to Hill Country Weavers today for a book signing with Amy Singer and Jillian Moreno. Here's a picture of me with Amy. And look I have my blue striped knitted top on!!!

They wrote Big Girl Knits together last year. And Amy's book, No Sheep For You, was published this year.

Amy and Jillian were a lot of fun. I got Amy to sign my No Sheep For You book. And Jillian signed the page where her pattern appears in the book. I wish I had brought my Big Girl Knits book too. I'd have gotten it signed too!

Seaming and Swatching

That is what I'll be working on today. I enjoy swatching so I'm not going to allow myself to knit swatches until I'm done seaming up my short sleeve top I've knitted.

The knitting has been done for about a week now but I just can't bring myself to sew in the ends and seam the pieces together. I keeping asking myself why I didn't knit the body in the round, then I'd only have the shoulders and sleeves to seam.

Oh well, I worked a 4 day week this week so I have an extra day for the weekend. If I get this done today I'll have a nice looking top to wear to work on Monday!

Pictures to follow.

Oh and have your heard about the Knitting Stamps that are coming out later this year? They look adorable even if they are going to have the new postage rate of 41 cents (ouch!).
